Each year the OFL awards two scholarships in honour of five distinguished trade unionists.
The 2007 awards were given in honour of:
Robert (Bob) Beames, OSSTF (deceased)
Janiss Davidson, ONA
Carol McGregor, OPSEU (deceased)
Frank Mazur, TCU (USW) (deceased)
Nycole Turmel (PSAC)
Applications for the scholarships were to include a 1,000 word essay on “Why should there be a $10 minimum wage for all Ontario workers, regardless of age and occupation?”
This year’s winners are: Hillary Jolliffe from London, Ontario who entered the Kinesiology program at Brescia University College at the University of Western Ontario; and Austin Simpson from Oshawa entered Carlton University in Ottawa to study Mechanical Engineering.
The Federation congratulates both winners and wishes them good luck in their studies.
