SolidarityWORKS! 2007

Since 1999, SolidarityWORKS! has provided a forum that brings labour and community activists together with young workers (30 years of age and under) who receive hands-on training on labour issues such as workers rights, human rights, health and safety, education, organizing and mobilizing.

Organizing for Change: Mobilizing Youth

Join workers under 30 and other youth to discuss organizing and mobilizing strategies for youth.

This one day conference will feature a variety of speakers with lots of time for discussion, networking and strategy development.

Scholarship Winners 2005

Each year the OFL awards two scholarships in honour of five distinguished trade unionists.

The 2005 awards are given in honour of Judy D’Arcy, Canadian Union of Public Employees, Susan Giampietri, Public Service Alliance of Canada, Neville Hamilton, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, John McEwen, Cornwall & District Labour Council (deceased) and Ted Roscoe, Service Employees International Union (deceased).

DID YOU KNOW...

After you work a year for the same employer you must get at least two weeks vacation with pay. Your employer must pay you at least 4% of your total wages for the year.

If you quit or are laid off before working for one year, you must get 4% of your total wages as vacation pay.
